Planned Training for 2018

25th November - Dr Isla Fishburn

We are thrilled that Dr Isla Fishburn ( will be coming to The Dog House, Worcester to present a one day seminar  all about Canine Wellbeing, focusing on the fundamental need for an animal to feel safe and how emotions influence the behavioural response of a dog. Using her experience of animal behaviour, zoology, canine biology, behaviour and learning theory Dr Isla Fishburn will give us a whistle stop tour of canine wellness, the different causes of wellness, what is normal, what is abnormal and why abnormal behaviour can occur in dogs through one or several different routes. Dr Fishburn will discuss the importance of wellbeing and what we need to consider in order to provide our dogs’ with a life that is healthy, balanced and that meets the needs of each dog as an individual.

Puppy Courses

Puppy Foundation  Course

Starts 16th June,  Saturday 12.30 – 1.30

This course runs for 10 wks but you only have to attend 8 out of the 10 weeks to gain your puppy Foundation Certificate and Rosette! This allows you to take your holiday as the course crosses peak holiday times!

Your puppy should have had his or her puppy vaccinations and should ideally be about 12 wks of age to join our course

We run our course with small numbers (only FIVE pups) so this gives us time to work through all the exercises and you and your puppy receive quality information and training

We will cover:

1.      Your responsibilities as a good dog owner

2.      How to care for your puppy

3.      Diet and Nutrition

4.      How to keep your puppy healthy

5.      Ensure your puppy knows his name

6.      Learn how to play calmly with your puppy

7.      How to groom your puppy

8.      Learn how to effectively socialise your puppy with

  •          people,
  •          situations and
  •          other dogs

9.      Teach your puppy:-

  •          how to come when you
  •          sit, stand and lie down
  •          walk on a lead
  •          stay
  •          leave a toy/treat and
  •          not to snatch food

 Your tutor for the course is Dawn, who has over 35 years experience of living and working with dogs. Not only will you receive training and awareness for all of the above but also lots of helpful hints along the way!
